BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An Apple Store in the Back Bay hopes to protect their store, employees and customers by putting up steel barricades. Parking Bollard
The store submitted a proposal to the Back Bay Architectural Commission to add aesthetically pleasing barricades outside of the store. Currently, the store has temporary barricades decorated with plants.
In the proposal, the company suggested rendered stainless steel bollards out front to protect the store and match the colors of the store.
This came in the aftermath of the tragic accident at an Apple store Hingham in November, 2022. An SUV plowed through the store, killing one person and injuring nearly two dozen more.
Victims of the crash sued the driver and the management company of Derby Street Shops. The Apple Store in Hingham reopened in January and placed concrete barriers in front of the store.
