Access floor with Industrial Grade loading successfully delivered at Equinix Data Centre | Architecture & Design

The Equinix Data Centre, built by John Holland Group is a large project in the technology and telecommunications world. A thorough understanding of data centre equipment and functionality was required in order to deliver a successful access floor.

ASP installed a steel cementitious HPL rigid grid system with 4.5Kn Heavy Grade and 6.6kN Industrial Grade loading at 1500mm FFH.

The corridors in this project were classified as high rolling load areas for which ASP’s 6.6kN Industrial Grade access floor panels were used. ASP’s specially designed bridging stringers were used in the corridors to span a width of 1.8m unsupported and carrying a panel load of 6.6kN. The bridging was re-engineered and project specific so that it could be incorporated into ASP’s flooring system.

All under-structure components were finished with a hot dipped galvanised finish, eliminating the problem of zinc whiskers commonly found in data centres. ASP accessories such as air grilles along with factory and site cut-outs were also used on this project.

ASP completed the 4,000m² data centre project over six months in June 2011.
