Getting Excited for PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, in theatres September 29th!
PAW Patrol is on a roll! In the second PAW Patrol film, coming to theatres September 29, Ryder and his pups are on an exhilarating (and of course, hilarious) new mission to save Adventure City. Paw Patrol has always been a favorite in our house – it is something that both girls and boys can enjoy together, and it appeals to both of them even with their age gap. Stuffed Dog Toy

My kids were so excited to watch the trailer for PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. They gathered up their favorite PAW Patrol stuffed animals to watch along with us! We watched it before the feature film for our weekly Friday Family Movie Night, so it felt like watching a preview at the movie theatre. It was exciting to see the pups back in Adventure City, since they love Liberty.
In the second PAW Patrol film, a magical meteor crash lands in Adventure City, giving the PAW Patrol pups superpowers and transforming them into The MIGHTY PUPS! For Skye, the smallest member of the team, her new powers are a dream come true. But things take a turn for the worse when the pups’ archrival Humdinger breaks out of jail and teams up with Victoria Vance, a meteor-obsessed mad scientist, to steal the superpowers and turn themselves into supervillains. With the fate of Adventure City hanging in the balance, the Mighty Pups have to stop the supervillains before it’s too late, and Skye will need to learn that even the smallest pup can make the biggest difference.
This really resonates with us as it can be hard not to compare yourself to others, especially with siblings and other classmates who may have different strengths than you. But it is important theme for our family to work together as a team, and help each other. Everyone has a role in helping our family stay strong and connected, and make everyone feel included, no matter how small.
To continue our excitement for the movie, we decided to make our own mighty badges, just like the mighty pups have. Their new powers and crystal-powered pup suits reflect something important to them or something they are good at. We had fun discussing as a family what our super powers would be and why each pup had the power that they had!
We designed, colored, and created our own mighty badges that we can wear as we go on all of our own backyard adventures! It was interesting to see that each child had such wild imaginations on what their power would be and what their badge would display to represent their powers. For younger kids, they can color the badge with the paw print in their favorite colors. With an open-ended project like this, each child can pick any color and power they want and celebrate their strengths.
Then, we cut out each badge. This is also a great way to practice scissors skills to prepare for the school year!
After each badge was cut out, we used a hole punch (or you could use a pencil to poke through it) to create two holes at the top of each badge.
We threaded string through each hole and tied it with a lot of extra room so that it easily could get on and off their heads. Pro Tip: we learned the hard way that string may tangle and twist as they're running around the yard on their adventures (or in our case, back and forth on the zipline). Try using a gift ribbon, cord, or fabric!
Alternative ideas: glue it to a safety pin, tape it to clothing, or attach it to something fun they use when dressing up for their adventures, like a foam shield, hat, or vest!
My children made badges that represented strengths and/or dreams of what mighty power they would want. My daughter made one that represented her favorite sport that she feels proud of, lacrosse. She has worked so hard to improve over the last three years since she started, knowing nothing about the sport. One of my sons drew a soccer ball with flames because he wanted his mighty power to be able to kick a ball super far so he could help his teammates in soccer. And one of my sons would love to have a mighty power to become other people in order to help other people in different ways.
What we learned from this activity and the theme of the upcoming PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, is that everyone is special and unique. And you don't need any extra powers to be a part of a team by including and helping others.
