A spokesperson with the State Board of Elections said local election groups are being "inundated" with calls and emails based on a bogus claim of voter fraud involving the permanent-ink pens in Arizona.

"The State Board of Elections would like to advise all voters, the voting machine/scanner will accept and count a ballot marked by any pen, marker or pencil — blue or black ink — ball point, felt-tip or 'Sharpie,'" the spokesperson wrote in a release.

Anyone with questions about Sharpies is being asked to contact the State Board of Elections by emailing INFO@elections.ny.gov or by calling 518-474-953.
