First Case Of An iPhone 15 Pro Swollen Battery Shows Up, Likely Due To Incessant Overheating Issues

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating issues were already in circulation, with some users complaining that both flagships were either too hot to hold or just felt warm to the touch. However, none of them encountered any swollen battery problems until today, when a Redditor posted an image of the handset showing a bulge that slightly separated the bottom display assembly.

A Redditor with the username u/Leather_Cheerio_402 has said that the iPhone 15 Pro was picked up on a Monday, but the swollen battery was not noticed at all. It was only spotted after a case was attempted to be placed on it, and the accessory did not fit properly, revealing that there was a swollen battery that had popped up the lower part of the screen. Though the device still works, people in the thread have advised to power off the iPhone and not to charge it. earphones

“Picked up the phone on Monday and didn’t notice it then. Put on a case a couple days ago and noticed it didn’t fit right. Was going order a new case but then realized the phone is actually swelling. Still works for now.”

The iPhone 15 Pro owner has also said that the nearest Apple Store was not helpful in the matter because when it was explained that the model with the swollen battery was purchased from Verizon, the individual was advised to visit the exact place of purchase. The iPhone community responded that this treatment by the App Store outlet is completely unacceptable. Regardless of whether the handset was picked up from a Verizon storefront, the Genius Bar should facilitate the owner.

The Redditor later mentioned that Verizon has agreed to swap the unit, but it does mean that the user will be without a phone for a while. Since this is the first case of an iPhone 15 Pro emerging with a swollen battery, Apple can be given the benefit of the doubt. We also do not know what sort of activity was carried out on the iPhone, what sorts of apps were being run, and how it was being charged.

According to an analyst, the A17 Pro powering both ‘Pro’ models is not the culprit, but the titanium chassis and the inadequate cooling solution are, which have resulted in severe thermal throttling issues and visible stuttering problems when playing games such as Genshin Impact. Hopefully, this was just an isolated incident, and no one has to go through an ordeal again, but if the problem shows up in a separate unit, we will inform our readers.
